Re: Joseph Ivey, Leake County, Mississippi

Joseph is probably related to James Croft, James Ivey and Jacob Blackwell who are with him in the 1820 Covington MS Census. James Ivey is probably the son of James Ivey (b. 1745* - d. 1820 Marlboro SC. Joseph is also connected to Isham Ivey 1824 Covingt…

Re: Lucinda Ivey

I am currently working on proving connections of people to Joseph Ivey using atDNA. It seems to show that Lucinda is a daughter of Joseph and the James 1815 is a son of Joseph. Also it seems to show that Joseph is a son of James Ivey (b 1745 and died 18…

Re: New Isham Ivey Matches

Before using any matches from the Isham match list you need to first use the One- to One Gedmatch utility to verify that it is a legitimate match. In fact all three matches are not legitimate and should not be used.

Re: JAMES HORACE IVEY

The Tracker data base lists records for four more generations after James Horace Ivy who is born 1881 in Clarke MS. You can download the Tracker database at this web site. You will still need to prove the connection. ATDNA may help. Do you have a DNA…

I didn't find any records that would help you. Send me county & state locations for any of these names and I will do some more checking. (Also any known siblings). If you would like to be included in our Ivey research group (about 441 in our email gro…

JAMES HORACE IVEY

James Horace Ivey (1881-1963) was my grandfather. His Delayed Certificate of Birth dated Sept 27, 1943, states that his parents were JAMES PERRY IVEY, born in AL and MOSURIA JENETT CARR, born in MS. The affidavit testifying to this was signed by a close …

WHAT RACE ARE IVY'S

All of James (1814) Ivy's siblings census and tax records list them as white. However, this is a determination based on the census takers visual determination and it isn't always accurate. Likewise in 1840 James (1814) Crawford census lists a James (?18…

Re: Portuguese

This was on 23andMe... they updated their ancestry composition to more specific locations. Under "Iberian Peninsula" I was given "Portugal"; however, they updated again and "Portugal" disappeared. I do still show a small amount of Iberian. On Ancestry …

Re: Portuguese

I believe that I must. On Ancestry I show 8% Iberian Peninsula at a high confidence. I have read that Ancestry is getting ready to update their site and Iberian will be broken down into Spanish & Portuguese. I can't wait to see what mine says!

Re: Portuguese

I think you do have Portuguese. Using Eurogene K13 your have West Med 14.40%, /
Eurogene K15 you have 10.6% and K36 you have 11.33 percent Iberian. Either you have some Portuguese and Spanish or a little of both. What do you think.

Portuguese

I know that some Ivey branches have an oral history of Portuguese ancestry; in SC, there was the famous Thomas Hagans court case. Growing up in NC, I'd always heard Portuguese was used as code for "mixed race". 23andMe recently updated their Ancestry Co…

The is some family history of their being an indian chief in the family. Has anyone found any historical evidence of this in their research?
